The operative laparoscope is coupled to the distal end of the laser arm so that the laser energy can be transmitted through a central operating channel within the laparoscope. The operating laparoscope often has a right angle optical component that allows visualization through the lens channel of the laparoscope, and this end is usually attached to a camera and video monitor. A light source and the CO2 insufflation tubing can also attach directly to the laparoscope.
